Regional area programmes

The regional programmes, whether dealing with Africa, the Middle East, Latin America or South Asia, are the crucibles of new collaborations between academics from Sciences Po's five disciplines. Their main aim is to strengthen research on a particular region of the world (Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America), and Sciences Po's scientific, pedagogical and cultural collaborations with partner universities in each region. In particular, they aim to support and enhance students' work by integrating them into a collective dynamic at Bachelor, Master and doctoral/post-doctoral levels. The programmes also provide an unprecedented forum for dialogue between researchers, artists, managers and civil society players, who share their views on the region.

- The Africa Programme brings together all Africa-related initiatives at Sciences Po. It is an interdisciplinary structure that cuts across the various research centers, departments, schools, campuses and departments, providing a unique interface between education and research. Its mission is to promote, coordinate and lead Sciences Po's scientific, educational and partnership activities relating to the African continent. The main aim of the Africa Programme is to strengthen research in Africa and Sciences Po's scientific, educational and cultural collaborations with partner universities on the continent. In particular, it aims to highlight students' work by integrating them into a collective dynamic at bachelor, master and doctoral/post-doctoral levels.

- The Middle East North Africa (MENA) Programme brings together all initiatives relating to studies and research on the Middle East and North Africa at Sciences Po. The program is an interdisciplinary structure that cuts across the various research centers, departments, schools, campuses and departments, offering a unique interface between education and research.

 - Sciences Po's South Asia Program is part of a drive to recognize and promote the role of cultural areas within the institution. Indeed, while areal studies have long been the focus of CERI (founded in 1952), they are now found in most of Sciences Po's research centers and departments and are supported by the International Affairs Department (DAI), which is stepping up its exchange agreements with universities around the world.

Within this framework, the South Asia Programme is engaged in three types of activities.
Firstly, it contributes to the creation of a regional specialization within the Paris School of International Affairs and the Urban School, which involves students choosing several courses, learning a language, spending time in the field and writing a research paper.
Secondly, it contributes to the development of partnerships forged by the DAI with universities in the region from which both students and academics come and go to Sciences Po - and works to create new partnerships.
Thirdly, it organizes research seminars, closed meetings bringing together academics and practitioners, and public events dealing with major issues for the region.

- The Latin America Programme brings together all activities related to Latin America at Sciences Po, from research to teaching, including outreach to a wider public. It is an interdisciplinary structure that cuts across the various research centers, departments, schools, campuses and departments, providing an interface between research, training and promotion. It includes the Latin American and Caribbean Observatory (OPALC), attached to CERI, which constitutes its research and dissemination axis.
