Anaís Passos is currently a PhD affiliated with the Centre de Recherches Internationales (CERI - Sciences Po Paris). She studies the ongoing changes of the military profession in Latin America. During her doctoral studies that were supervised by Dr. Olivier Dabène (Opalc), she conducted an extensive fieldwork in Brazil and Mexico with civilians and military personnel at a close distance of military operations. The thesis inquired about the underlying political processes, dynamics and effects of the militarization of public security over the liberal dimension of nascent democracies. She is also a member and co-founder of RESVAL (Red de Estudios Interdisciplinarios sobre Seguridad y Violencias en América Latina) and has been a visiting scholar at Colegio de la Frontera (Colef - Tijuana). Her research has been published or is been reviewed by peer-reviewed journals such as Third World Quaterly and Revista de Estudos Estratégicos and she is a Latin American analyst for the weekly publication la Lettre du Lundi. Anaís holds a bachelor's from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in International Relations and a Master's Degree in Political Science by the same institution.
