Her research is concerned with UN peacekeeping and its engagement in humanitarian action - particularly focused on civil-military relations, challenges under international law, and She obtained an MSc in International Law and Security from the University of Southern Denmark in 2023 and an MSc in International Humanitarian Affairs from the University of York in 2023.
El-Abd is the awardee of the World Youth Democracy Award 2020 by the German Ministry of Interior. She was formerly a research assistant working on the SHAPEDEM-EU project at Roskilde University. Additionally, she has formerly worked for the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs out of the Danish Embassy for Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon, and has worked with numerous think tanks across Holland, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Denmark. She is a co-author of the upcoming book 'Un-Welcome To Denmark: The Paradigm Shift And Refugee Integration' with Michelle Pace for Manchester University Press.
