Why choose the Sciences Po Undergraduate College?

Each year, half of new students at the Sciences Po Undergraduate College come from outside France. Why do so many international students choose Sciences Po for their undergraduate studies? Here are a few reasons:

2 years in France + 1 year abroad

All students at the Undergraduate College take a three-year Bachelor's degree programme. They spend the first two years in France and the third year abroad, either on an internship or studying at one of our 470 partner universities. Sciences Po is the only university in the world to have made a year abroad compulsory. The aim is to ensure all students develop their language skills, gain meaningful international experience and open up to other cultures and points of view.

5 core subjects (and many more)

Law, economics, history, political science and sociology: these are the five main subjects taught at Sciences Po. Lectures are complemented by small group classes where students learn to express themselves in public, debate effectively and forge their critical thinking skills.

Non French-speaking students are welcome

French and English are the main languages of instruction. Sciences Po also offers a large range of language courses. Sciences Po is open to non French-speaking students, who may enrol in one of the English-language programmes offered in Le Havre, Menton and Reims. They learn French while studying at Sciences Po.

9 dual Bachelor's degrees

Sciences Po is the only university to offer dual Bachelor's programmes with Columbia University (USA), Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), Keio University (Japan), National University of Singapore (Singapore), University of British Columbia (Canada), University of California Berkeley (USA), University College London (UK), University of Hong Kong (China) and University of Sydney (Australia). After four years of study, two years at Sciences Po and two years at the partner university, students earn a degree from both institutions, giving them a competitive edge for entering top graduate programmes or the international job market.

150 nationalities, 49% international students

At Sciences Po, nearly half of the 14,000 students come from outside France. Our international students represent more than 150 nationalities and come from many of the world’s leading institutions. This multicultural environment means students live and study in constant interaction with different cultures and viewpoints.

4 in 10 students receive financial assistance

To make sure students can concentrate on their studies, Sciences Po grants tuition exemptions and financial assistance to those in need. Tuition fees are also calculated on a sliding scale based on the resources of each student.
