CDSP Databank
The direct heir to the Banque de données socio-politiques (BDSP) founded in 1981, the CDSP Databank boasts over 400 references references accessible to the academic community (researchers, students students, engineers, etc.). It has become a reference in the SHS in August 2023 with the CoreTrustSeal certification.
Major socio-political surveys
The CDSP databank includes a large number of socio-political surveys, as well as quantitative and qualitative surveys on a variety of themes (science, environment, health, sexuality, cultural practices, intergenerational relations, etc.).
Divided into different thematic collections, these survey data can be easily explored.
- The Research Data collection
- The ELIPSS Collection
- The historical collection of election results
- The Qualitative data collection
- The Educational Data
Enabling reuse
The quantitative data variables in the CDSP databank are described in detail (including filters, recoding techniques, flat sorting, instructions for interviewers) in line with current international standards, and are formatted to facilitate re-use of the datasets.
Noteworthy publications resulting from re-use
In his book Controlling the Electoral Market Place, Joost van Spanje (University of Amsterdam) reuses historical data from the Electoral Surveys to study the reactions of established political parties to the emergence of formations at the extremes of the political spectrum in many democracies.
Sarah Schneider-Strawczynski (Paris School of Economics) and Jérôme Valette (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) re-use the thirteen waves of the Dynamiques de mobilisation series to compare individual perceptions of immigration over time in the article Media Coverage of Immigration and the Polarization of Attitudes.
A trustworthy database
Thanks to the quality of its data documentation, dissemination and preservation procedures, the CDSP Data Bank was awarded the prestigious CoreTrustSeal certification in August 2023.
This certification guarantees that the CDSP has set up a trusted data bank, complying with CTS requirements relating to data preservation, security and quality (also in line with those of the National Open Science Plan).
