Duties
The main activity of the research assistant will be to support the implementation of the of the Cronos-2 – Opinion study. study.
This European panel, operated by ESS-ERIC (the European infrastructure in charge of the European Social Survey), is funded by the H2020-INFRADEV-2018-2020 ESS-SUSTAIN-2 program (reference 871063). Cronos-2 currently brings together 12 countries, including France, carrying out the national versions of these European surveys. After a recruitment phase during the fieldwork for the European Social Survey, this panel will field social science surveys. Most of the waves of this panel are the results of a call for proposal launched by ESS-ERIC. Two of the waves of Cronos-2 will be conducted nationally, i.e. based on a questionnaire developed autonomously by the French team.
This mission is part of the activities of the CDSP's "Data Production" team, which also carries out the European Social Survey (ESS) and of the ELIPSS panel.
The position offered represents a half-time position.
Main activities
- Support to the project management (operational, administrative and financial aspects)
- Support to the panelists in their experience of the Cronos-2 study: answering questions by e-mail or telephone, providing information regarding data protection rights (General Data Protection Regulation), sending communication material to the panelists (letters, envelopes, etc.)
- Reporting on the participation of the panelists (participation rate, etc.)
- Support for the translation of the questionnaires (from English to French)
- Support for the design of the two national waves of the panel
- Editing the questionnaires (using the Qualtrics platform used for this project)
- Support for the communication on the project
- Support for data research (literature review, statistical analysis,…)
N.B. There will be some telephone duty, including at the end of the day.
N.B.: The activities listed above may be modified/added to as the service evolves and the related issues arise.
Skills/Qualifications
- Education : Master 2 (on-going or passed), PhD candidate in social sciences (sociology, political sciences, economics,…) or applied statistics
- Comfortable with learning how to use new softwares
- Good knowledge of applied statistics and their actual implementation
- Fluency in French and English so as to be able to translate questionnaires and collaborate in an international environment
- Good organization, capacity to work autonomously
- Capacity to work in collaboration within the team
