Florence Haegel elected Chair of Sciences Po's Academic Board
Florence Haegel, Professor of political science at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE), was elected chair of Sciences Po’s Academic Board on 30 April 2024, succeeding Eberhard Kienle. Florence Haegel's term of office will run until next autumn, when new elections will be called to renew the governing bodies of the Institut d'études politiques (IEP) de Paris.
The Academic Board is consulted on matters relating to Sciences Po's scientific policy and the link between research and teaching, in particular on all matters connected with recruitment and academic careers. It is made up of both ex officio members and elected members of the permanent faculty and represents all of the school's disciplines.
Florence Haegel's research focuses on political parties (in particular the French partisan right) and the processes of politicisation, socialisation and political participation. She lectures Introduction to Political Science at the Undergraduate College and also teaches Masters at the School of Research. Florence Haegel previously headed the CEE (2016-2022) and Sciences Po’s Political Science Department (2013-2016).
