Christian Buhl-Madsen is a Ph.D. student in Political Science and Sociology at Scuola Nomrale Superiore sede Firenze. He did his BA and MA at University of Copenhagen, Denmark with an interest in the diffusion of ideas, its implications for influence of different economic and political groups, and with a special attention to key knowledge-holding actors and experts around the discipline of economics.
Research interests
Christian Buhl-Madsen's current research interest revolve around the construction of crisis as a space where specific sets of ideas can gain prominence over others and empower political as well as other actors in a differential manner with different policies to follow. His thesis deals with such questions and adds the translation of international events into domestic politics as part of the puzzle. It deals with the power of causal ideas among decision-makers within the time frame of the first oil-crisis of the early 1970s in France and the U.K.
Visiting projects and objectives
Christian Buhl-Madsen intends to pursue his Ph.D. thesis while at CEE. In particular, the role of causal ideas among decision makers should benefit greatly from interaction with the CEE.
