Rosalie Singerman Ray

Rosalie Singerman Ray is a PhD Candidate in Urban Planning in the Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning at Columbia University. She received her B.A. in Economics from Smith College and her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from UCLA. Before going to UCLA, Rosalie Singerman Ray worked as an economist at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Rosalie’s dissertation focuses on institutions in transportation planning and the institutional change needed to shift to just, sustainable transport using the case of bus lane network expansion in London and Paris. Past research has explored the effects of transit construction on local businesses and community displacement, how city transportation departments and transit agencies collaborate to prioritize buses, and the prospects of fare-free transit in the United States.
