In order to better understand the logic behind the recent French legislative election results and those of the June 2024 European Election, Ipsos, Cevipof and Le Monde set up the framework for a panel survey in July 2023: the French Electoral Survey. This unique panel was composed of 11,000 individuals questioned on various occasions over the past 12 months.

The 7th and final Wave of this Ipsos survey (carried out from July 26^th to August 1^st) for Le Monde, the Fondation Jean-Jaurès, CEVIPOF, and the Institut Montaigne, has resulted in a detailed analysis of this unprecedented electoral sequence (the European election followed by an early legislative election), at a time when France continues to be mired in a period of political uncertainty.  

It explores the opinions of French citizens on a number of subjects such as trust in the National Assembly and potential coalitions.

Some Survey Conclusions:

- There is a general sense of distrust among the electorate with 73% of those interviewed expressing such distrust,

- The France Insoumise party has been damaged,

-The Rassemblement National has resisted.

On the subject of coalitions, 50% of voters would prefer an alliance between the Ensemble group and the left-wing parties, minus LFI, whereas 48% would support an  Ensemble / LR coalition.
