In his new book published by Princeton University Press, Michel Anteby shows that encountering resistance in research fields can be very useful for understanding how organizations and professional communities function. He draws on a variety of stories of resistance from uncooperative participants - from Nazi scientists to Harvard professors to strikebreakers at Disney, and people who handle cadavers for dissection in medical schools - to reveal how resistance manifests itself in the field, and how researchers can learn from it.
