David Yang

David YANG is Professor of Economics at Harvard. Among his numerous affiliations, he is a Faculty Affiliate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, at the Center for International Development and the Institute for Quantitative Social Science, as well as an Azrieli Global Scholars at the Canadian Institute For Advanced Research, a Faculty Associate at the Harvard Data Science Initiative and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, and a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER). Among his editorial duties, he is Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association and of the Economic Journal.

David Yang’s research focuses on political economy, behavioral and experimental economics, economic history, and cultural economics. In particular, David studies the forces of stability and forces of changes in authoritarian regimes, drawing lessons from historical and contemporary China.
