28 rue des Saints-Pères, 75007, ParisRefet Gürkaynak is Professor of Economics at Bilkent University, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Economics. He is a Fellow at CESIfo, at the Center for Financial Studies, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He served the Federal Reserve Board in the Division of Monetary Affairs as economist from 2001 to 2005. He is currently Co-Editor of the International Journal of Central Banking.
His research focuses on monetary economics, financial economics, international finance. In particular, he has worked on extracting information from asset prices that help answer monetary policy related questions. His research along these lines has been published in journals such as Journal of Monetary Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and American Economic Review. His work is recognised at both the national and international levels - he has received awards from the Central Bank of Turkey, the European Central Bank, and the Turkish Academy of Sciences, as well as an European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant for his project Theory and Empirics of Asymmetry.
