Portrait of Venance Riblier

Venance  Riblier is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Sciences Po working on a thesis entitled Essays on Sovereign Debt under the supervision of Nicolas Cœurdacier. He is also a PhD student at the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley) since 2023 as well as a Graduate Fellow at the Clausen Center for the academic year 2024-2025.  

He is a macroeconomist, using both theory and empirics to address questions such as fiscal policy and public debt. His research also aims at understanding the sources of business cycles fluctuations or inflation.

Valentin Marchal is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Sciences Po working on a thesis entitled Public Debt and Safety Trap in Open Economies under the supervision of Stéphane Guibaud. He is also a Teaching Fellow at the Department. Last spring, he visited Pompeu Fabra University at the invitation of Alberto Martin and Jaume Ventura.   

His research interests are in rational bubbles,  wealth inequality and monetary-fiscal Interaction. His work addresses macro-finance issues with an emphasis on theoretical approaches.
