Emanuel Ornelas is Full Professor of Economics at the São Paulo School of Economics-FGV. Prior to joining FGV, he was Associate Professor at the London School of Economics (LSE). He is also an Elected Fellow of the Econometric Society, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and CESifo, a Research Associate at the LSE's Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and a Research Affiliate at the International Growth Centre (IGC). He is a Senior Fellow at the Asia Global Institute (AGI) and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Trade, Integration, and Growth Network (TIGN). Among his editorial duties, he is Associate Editor of the EconomiA Magazine and a member of the Editorial Board of World Trade Review.
His research focuses on international trade and political economy, with an emphasis on the reasons for and consequences of international trade agreements and the process of internationalization of firms. His articles have been published in leading economics journals and he has been invited to produce surveys for the Annual Review of Economics and the Handbook of Commercial Policy.
