Luis Martinez

Luis MARTINEZ is Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. He is also a Research Affiliate at the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts and Faculty Affiliate at the Chicago Center on Democracy.

His main research interest is in the analysis of political institutions in developing countries, with a regional focus on Latin America. Some of his work is centered around authoritarian regimes. In other work, he has studied the functioning of democracy in settings with weak institutions. A third line of research focuses on civil conflict. His work is regularly published in general interest journals in Economics and Political Science. He has received a number of grants from the Becker Friedman Institute (University of Chicago) and the Pearson Institute Research Fund.

Luis MARTINEZ will present a paper, joint with Giorgio CHIOVELLI, Leopoldo FERGUSSON, Juan D TORRES, and Felipe VALENCIA-CAICEDO, at the next PEPES Seminar on the theme:
