Master in public policy: core courses
The Master in Public Policy offers core courses that enable students to acquire in-depth, comparative and transversal knowledge in the field of public affairs, which combines economic, legal, ethical, historical, political, managerial and digital approaches.
During their Master's degree, students must take five core courses in the following modules, regardless of their policy stream. The syllabus of each course can be found on our online programs.
Courses are offered in both English and French.
Semester 1
Governance, Democracy and Public Policy
One of the following courses:
- Éthique et déontologie
- Numérique et démocratie
- La démocratie moderne et ses dilemmes
- Nouvelles pratiques démocratiques
- Populismes et démocraties
- Grands enjeux de la société française
- Psychology and Public Policy
- Democracy in crises
- Analytic Approaches to Public Policy
- Digital Democracy and Public Spaces
Public Economics
Depending on your level, you can choose one of these courses:
- Public Economics: Introduction (in English or French)
- Public Economics: Intermediate level, in English or French (course A or course B)
- Public Economics: Advanced level (in English)
Policy Analysis and Policy Evaluation
- Évaluation des politiques publiques (en français) / Policy Analysis and Policy Evaluation (in English): Beginner, intermediate or advanced level (several courses for each level).
Semester 2
Public Policy Challenges
One of the following courses:
- Droit public
- Droit de l’action publique
- Competition Law
- La Constitution et son application
- Information, Medias, Espace Public et Révolution Numérique
- Planification et politique publique de l’environnement en France
- Economics of the environment
- La Transformation de l’action publique d’un point de vue sociologique
- L’Union européenne en temps de crise
- EU institutions, law and policies : current issues and future challenges
- Data science and public policy
- Quantitative methods and evaluation of public policies (intermediate)
- Nouveaux enjeux du commerce mondial
- Public policy incubator (selective)
