From a linear to a circular economy : let's rethink (and criticize) EU materials and waste policy

In the current context of overgrown economies, accelerating resource depletion, and growing geopolitical uncertainties, the time has come for a critical exploration of the potential and challenges of the circular economy model within the EU.

Beyond its ecological benefits, the circular economy is increasingly seen as a crucial lever for achieving economic and strategic autonomy, reducing reliance on volatile global supply chains and securing access to critical raw materials.

In order to respond to the ecological crisis and bolster EU resilience, we must adopt a critical look at key policy instruments designed to embed circularity and resource efficiency within the European model: will they be sufficient to ensure both environmental sustainability and economic sovereignty? Should alternative models be considered to strengthen the EU's strategic independence?

Axel Darut, expert on public policy related to circular economy, will dissect these complex issues during an interactive masterclass on April 2nd.
