Henri Bergeron
Luis Vassy, President of Sciences Po, has appointed Henri Bergeron as Dean of the School of Public Affairs.
Henri Bergeron, a graduate of EM Lyon and Sciences Po, has served as a Research Director at the CNRS within the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations (CSO) at Sciences Po since 1998.
He succeeds the esteemed economist Philippe Martin, who passed away prematurely in December 2023. This appointment follows a rigorous selection process conducted by a committee comprising both internal and external experts. Henri Bergeron will formally assume his new role in June 2025.
A distinguished scholar in public policy and the transformation of public action, Henri Bergeron has co-directed the "Health" research axis of the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP) since 2012 and has held The Sciences Po Chair in Work and Organisational Change since 2022.
Henri Bergeron has contributed to the development of the School of Public Affairs through his teaching and leadership of two programmes, "Global Health" and "Management and Public Policy," before conceptualising and assuming the scientific direction of the Executive Master in Public Administration (EMPA), offered through Sciences Po's Executive Education.
Luis Vassy, Director of Sciences Po, commented: "For over a century and a half, Sciences Po's School of Public Affairs has been instrumental in shaping the leaders of both the public and private sectors, combining the most advanced academic knowledge with practice-based learning delivered by distinguished professionals. As a Research Director at the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations, Chairholder in 'Organisational and Labour Transformation,' and a recognised expert in change management, Henri Bergeron brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to the School of Public Affairs. In an era where both state institutions and private enterprises are undergoing rapid transformations, I have full confidence in his ability to ensure that the school remains a leading institution and one of Sciences Po’s greatest assets."
Upon his appointment, Henri Bergeron stated: "I am deeply honoured to be named Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po and extend my sincere gratitude to Luis Vassy for his trust. My primary objective is to strengthen the school’s role as a hub for the transformation of public action, building upon the dedication of our faculty and staff as well as the established excellence of our academic programmes. My priority will be to enhance our students’ capacity to navigate the complexity of institutional, political, and organisational environments in which public action unfolds, equipping them with the analytical frameworks and tools essential for designing, implementing, and assessing reform initiatives."
