Gourde-Bouchard, Noémie

Noémie Gourde-Bouchard is a doctoral student at Sciences Po Law School and McGill University. Since November 2023, she is working on a thesis on the history of the Quebec Civil Code Revision Office, under the supervision of Professor Frédéric Audren and Professor Michelle Cumyn. Her main research interests are the history of jurists and legal knowledge, statutory interpretation and legal theory.

She graduated from the École Normale Supérieure (Paris), and holds a master's degree in legal theory (Université Paris Nanterre and École des hautes études en sciences sociales), a joint degree in civil law and common law (McGill University), and a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy (Université de Montréal). Prior to undertaking her PhD studies, she served as Assistant Director of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law at McGill University.

Provisional thesis title: The invention of Quebec civil law: a study of the Civil Code Revision Office as machine and ghost.
