Postdoctoral Researcher

Hugo B. Lafrenière is postdoctoral researcher at Sciences Po School of Law. His research bears on the value of personal autonomy and its implications in the domains of law and distributive justice. While at Sciences Po, he is more particularly interested in the relationship between personal autonomy and state authority. His research on the subject is financed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Fond de recherche du QuébecSociété et Culture (FRQSC).

Born in Québec, Hugo holds a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a minor in philosophy from McGill University. He also holds a LLM in Legal Theory and a doctorate in juridical science (JSD) from New York University (NYU). He was awarded the John Bruce Moore Award for excellence in legal philosophy (2017).
