The Cross Moot wins the 2022 GAR Award for the Best Development in Arbitration
Global Arbitration Review (GAR) has delivered its 2022 Awards in a Gala held on 31st March in Paris within the framework of the Paris Arbitration Week. During the 12th edition of the Gala, the Cross Moot won the GAR Award for the Best Development in Arbitration.
Many thought that it was impossible to innovate and to create anything new in this field. However, after more than two years of hard reflection and intensive work, the Cross Moot finally came to life. 40 universities from over 20 countries of Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America participated in the first edition of this extraordinary competition, hosted virtually in November 2021 by Sciences Po Law School.
This extraordinary success has been made possible by an incredible team devoting countless hours of work over the past months.
Sciences Po Law School would like to thank in particular Ezequiel H. Vetulli and Francisco A. Amallo, who, together with a wonderful team, were the driving forces of the Cross Moot.
We would further like to thank our partners in this adventure, the other three universities which share the responsibility of the Cross Moot: Queen Mary University of London, New York University and National University of Singapore. We are all equally committed to providing qualitative education and have thus not hesitated to join forces to make this project become a reality.
The teaching and training of key mechanisms of transnational dispute settlement are evidently at the heart of Sciences Po Law School’s academic project. Transnational dispute settlement is certainly an art and a professional specialization, but it is also a service to the entire global society. This is fundamental message which we aim to transmit to all our students.
It is important to highlight the additional key support offered, in different ways, by a series of institutions and companies: the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Center of Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber Brazil-Canada, Maxwell Chambers, Compass Lexecon, and Jus Mundi. Many thanks as well to the over 200 arbitrators who helped us for the first edition of the Cross Moot.
The GAR Award for Best Development in Arbitration is a wonderful encouragement to continue the - already initiated - work to prepare the 2nd edition of the Cross Moot, which will again be hosted by Sciences Po Law School in November 2022!
