Meeting with Daria Vorobyeva, Graduate of Master in Economic Law, Global Governance Studies Program, 2014
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND?
I started my journey at Sciences Po Law School, and I truly believe it shaped not just my legal knowledge but my entire way of thinking. The program encouraged me to look at the law in a global context and challenged me to think critically.
After graduating, I specialized in debt finance at a large American law firm. It's been an exciting journey filled with complex deals and high-pressure situations, but also tremendous growth.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUR JOB TODAY AND YOUR NEXT PROJECTS?
My job today involves a lot of problem-solving—structuring private debt transactions, negotiating with clients, and handling cross-border deals. It’s demanding, but the pace keeps me on my toes, and I love seeing a deal come together after weeks of hard work.
As for my next steps, I’m interested in exploring sustainable finance and maybe, down the line, combining my legal background with entrepreneurial ventures.
YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE SCIENCES PO LAW SCHOOL ALUMNI CHAPTER. CAN YOU TELL US MORE?
Being part of the alumni chapter has been such a rewarding experience. It feels like coming home to a community that understands where you come from and where you want to go. We share knowledge, ideas, and support each other. It's inspiring to see how everyone is carving their own path, and it motivates me to keep pushing my own limits.
ANY ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN SCIENCES PO LAW SCHOOL?
My biggest piece of advice is to stay curious and embrace every opportunity. Sciences Po is a place where you can explore different areas of the law and beyond. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone—whether it’s taking on a challenging internship or joining a club that’s completely new to you. Also, remember to build connections; the people you meet here can become lifelong friends and mentors.
