Laurent Neyret passed the agrégation examination in private law in 2011. He is a tenured Professor at Sciences Po in environmental law and in tort law. He was Chief of Staff of Laurent Fabius, President of the Constitutional Council from 2018 to 2025.

Holding an Advanced Diploma (DEA) in Economic and Business Law and a PhD in Private Law, his research focuses on major challenges related to liability and environmental law. He has authored numerous articles and books, for which he has received several awards, including the Maisondieu Prize from the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and the Prize of the French Society for Environmental Law for his doctoral thesis.

Laurent Neyret is regularly consulted on national and international legislative projects concerning environmental law (corporate social responsibility, duty of vigilance, environmental criminal law, and the Global Pact for the Environment). He is an active member of several academic societies in France (French Society for Environmental Law) and internationally (International Law Association, IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law). He has led several research groups bringing together legal scholars, scientists, and economists from academia and the private sector, whose work has influenced legislative and judicial developments, such as the 2016 regulation on ecological harm compensation in the French Civil Code.

In the field of health law, he founded and directed a Master's program in Public and Private Health Law at Université Paris-Saclay and served as a mediator and member of the National Office for Compensation of Medical Accidents, handling cases of medical liability.

Beyond environmental law, Laurent Neyret has also taught contract and liability law, property law, and defective product law.
