ÉMILIE SIEBENBORN (Graduated in 2016)

Please note: starting in 2019, the master 'Economics & Business' has evolved into the Master in International Management & Sustainability

>I entered the Master in Economics and Business in 2014, right after my Sciences Po Undergraduate College degree at the Paris' campus and my exchange year at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China. As I have always wanted to study Economics and Finance, the Departement of Economics of Sciences Po emerged as an obvious choice. I choose the Master in Economics and Business which has the great advantage of being taught in English and is more relevant with my career path that I expect to be abroad.

This Master allows having a tailor-made training thanks to the wide range of available classes and subjects, with excellent teachers. It is suited to a prospective career in consulting, banking or corporate finance as it provides a broad range of theoretical and applicable knowledge. I also particularly liked the restricted number of students, all coming from different countries and cultures. It creates an excellent and very interesting working environment, as well as a great cultural diversification. In a nutshell, this Master, focused on knowledge diversification, improved my adaptability and skills base.

I decided not to take a gap year, which is not very common in this degree. I have done previous internships during my two years of Master degree, at Solvay, Brussels, Belgium, in the chemicals branch, and a summer internship in Financial analytics and Sales at Bloomberg LP, London, UK, both of them making me realize the field I want to work in: structured and project finance. Thus taking a gap year appeared as being unnecessary and I think that time has come to enter the job market. I did my final internship at the Finance Department of Total S.A, Paris, France, as a project and corporate finance assistant manager. I was taking part in Total's projects financing and structuring, for their solar farm projects for instance, but also to corporate finance projects related to the Group's subsidiaries all over the world.

After this internship, the company offered me a full time position in the Capital Market financing team at the Treasury, based in London. I am now corporate finance executive, in charge of the equity financing of the Total S.A. Group, including managing the capital increase operations and more broadly everything related to the company's shares traded on Paris, New-York and London stock exchanges.
