Alix Sponton, Inspection générale des affaires sociales 2024 Dissertation Prize 2024
Congratulations to Alix Sponton, a young CRIS doctoral student, who has just been awarded the first Dissertation Prize of the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs 2024: Individu et Politiques sociales, for her dissertation entitled ‘Se montrer présent: Réception du congé de paternité, parentalités et masculinités de la grossesse à la petite enfance’.
This work shows the disparities in access to paternity leave, particularly for fathers who are unemployed or on short contracts, as well as the varied ways in which it is used, often linked to the mother's return to work. A symbol of greater recognition for fathers, this leave is still considered too short, calling for measures such as longer leave with better compensation and promotion of part-time work for men.
