Chloé Deparis graduated from the MASTER IN Governing the Large Metropolis in 2020. For the past two years she has been living in Cambodia and working as project manager at Sevea, a think tank specialising in sustainable development.

Six students from the Urban Planning Programme carried out a joint field study of Athens and Eleusis. They began work in three different teams, but realised that the issues their respective projects addressed were remarkably similar. The students included certain cities bordering the capital in their field study.
Five students have developed a benchmark based on fifteen urban agriculture projects in France, Europe and North America. Urban farms bring more nature into the city and introduce a new aesthetic into the urban landscape. Urban agriculture also helps cast a spotlight on problems of food insecurity.
The week focused on smart cities and sustainable urbanization in France. The Learning Expedition was designed as part of the collaboration agreement between the Urban School and the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA)
The students of the Executive master Regional governance and urbandevelopment (GTDU) were in Learning expedition in Antwerp, Belgium, from 21 to 24 September. This learning expedition proposed to examine what solutions - technical, social, political etc. - are currently being developed in the city.

Virginie Vial is the executive director of the SAMOA URBAN PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT AGENCY in Nantes, France. She graduated from the Urban Planning Programme in 1996. She worked for Euro Disney's real estate development team before joining SAMOA in 2009.

Charles Béna is a research officer at Groupe Huit, an urban planning consultancy specialising in emerging countries. He has a Bachelor's degree at Sciences Po, in Paris and a third year at the University of Granada (Spain) He joined the first cohort of the Comparative Urban Governance dual degree.
Tommaso Vitale will take up his new position as Dean of the Urban School in September. He succeeds Patrick Le Galès, who has served as Dean since its creation in 2015. Mr. Vitale holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Milan.

The students of the master Governing Ecological Transitions in European Cities realised a COLLECTIVE INQUIRY following their study trip in Vienna. The work successively explores the legacies of Red Vienna and its various influences on contemporaryenvironmental and climate policies in face of climate urgency.

The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is India’s leading nationalthink tank on urban planning and development. Five students of the master Governing the Large Metropolis have to study 3 projects of the CITIIS program.
Students from the master Governing EcologicalTransitions in European Cities, realised a group project for 9 months with Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband (EGLV) EGLV has been one of the driving force for the ecological transition in the Ruhr region, in Germany, for more than thirty years.

JEANNE VARALDI is a consultant at Cabinet Utopies. She is also a visual artist who creates murals from construction materials. She says having two professional activities is in line with what she is taught at Sciences Po.
Guillaume Saraf is the Head of Real Estate and Logistics at the University of Lille. He graduated from the Urban Planning Programme in 2000. Saraf says the real estate industry is driven by investment and ROI.
Six students on the Large MetrOPOLIS MASTER’s Programme present an inventory of new approaches to measuring urban development. Their report, entitled “Beyond GDP”, analyses some of these alternative indicators in cities around the world.
