“Navalny” Documentary Film Screening and Discussion
One year after the death in prison of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, we are organizing a screening followed by a discussion of the documentary “Navalny.” Odessa Rae, one of the film's producers, and Clarissa Ward, CNN journalist and collaborator on the documentary project, will answer your questions. The discussion will be moderated and contextualized by Gilles Favarel-Garrigues, CNRS senior research fellow and expert on Russian politics and society at Sciences Po - CERI.

Odessa Rae is an Academy Award and BAFTA Award-winning producer and actor, best known for originating and producing the groundbreaking documentary Navalny. The film received critical acclaim, winning Best Documentary Feature at the 95th Academy Awards and Best Documentary at the 76th BAFTA Awards. Through her work on Navalny, Odessa has demonstrated a profound commitment to storytelling that sheds light on pressing global issues.
Clarissa Ward is CNN’s multi-award-winning Chief International Correspondent, based in London. Over the past two decades, she has reported from the front lines of conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Ukraine, among others. In December 2020, in a joint investigation by The Insider and Bellingcat in co-operation with CNN and Der Spiegel, she reported how Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) members stalked Alexei Navalny for years, including just before his poisoning in August 2020. The report uncovered a specialized FSB unit focused on chemical weapons and detailed their role in Navalny’s poisoning using telecom and travel data.
