Benoît Thieulin, new Dean of the School of Communication
Benoît Thieulin will take office as the new Dean of the Sciences Po School of Communication in September 2015. He succeeds the school’s founder, Jean-Michel Carlo.
Benoît Thieulin, founder and director of the communication agency La Netscouade, is a social web and digital transformation expert.
He is interested in the forms of empowerment stimulated by the digital revolution and in the innovations that this can produce.
Since January 2013, Benoît Thieulin has been head of the Conseil National du Numérique (Fr) (National Digital Council), an independent organisation tasked by the French government with identifying issues related to the impact of digital technology on the economy and society. In this role, he worked on the report "Jules Ferry 3.0: for a fair and creative school in the digital age”, which was submitted to the French President and served as the basis for the “Digital Technology in Schools” programme.
At Sciences Po, Benoît Thieulin is the director of the Digital Humanities Executive Master’s programme (Fr) and teaches at the School of Communication.
Created eight years ago, the School of Communication now has 800 students from 40 countries.
It offers master’s programmes in Marketing and Market Research (Fr) and in Communications (programme taught in English). The School has also developed a dual master’s degree programme with Fudan University in Shanghai (programme taught in English).
