Building Bridges for Solar Power

Immaculada Miracle graduated in June 2018 with a Master’s in International Development from the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs. She now works as an International Manager at both the French National Institute for Solar Energy (INES) (fr) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

After completing a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Immaculada Miracle started her Master’s degree in International Development at the Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), concentrating in Human Rights, Environmental Policy and European Studies. During the course of her Master’s, she completed trainings in Green Fiscal Reform and Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace, which led her to seek a career in the spheres of fiscal consolidation, environmental protection and reduction of poverty.

After graduating in June 2018, she began working as International Officer at the Institut National de l’Énergie Solaire (INES) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA). This dual role entails promoting capacity-building and research alliances between the two organisations and Latin America, by building bridges between countries’ Ministries, Chambers of Commerce, solar energy industries, NGOs, universities and laboratories. She also is leading a project on solar pumping, focusing on the elaboration of quality guidelines and training programmes with European working groups and ISA member countries. Finally, she organises and advocates for international events such as BePositive (fr), which will take place in February 2018 in Lyon, sponsored by INES, ISA and Forum Eurafric (fr).

"The most fascinating aspect of my role is the opportunity to connect nature, perspectives and knowledge from the social, political and environmental realms through solar energy projects. In order to see a project through, various stakeholders come together from different areas, exchanging diverse viewpoints and planning collaborative actions."

Immaculada regards PSIA’s openness to the international community and its rigorous academics as a launchpad for her career in international collaboration. "The holistic approach to international relations and its rich programme of events help to broaden one's outlook. PSIA also instilled a meticulous and ambitious work ethic which have proven incredibly formative."
