Combining Technology and Global Affairs: PSIA's New Dual Degree with IE in Madrid
The Dual Degree in Technology and Global Affairs, launched by Sciences Po’s-PSIA (Paris School of International Affairs) in Paris and IE’s-SPEGA in Madrid is a unique programme providing an innovative approach on technology’s relationship with the social sciences and influence on international affairs.
In this video, Dean Arancha González, highlights the major features of the programme.
Understanding technology first
The programme is designed to offer a fresh perspective on our global digital age. It dives into the dynamic relationship between technology and major areas of international affairs: Security, Economy and Trade, Rights and Democracy, and Governance.
A good part of the curriculum is also dedicated to the actual learning and practice of technology-related skills. As Dean González puts it, the students will be exposed to the “use of technology for the purpose of international public policymaking”.
Creating the expertise the market is missing
This programme aims to fill a critical gap in the job market by equipping graduates with expertise that is currently in short supply and yet, in high demand.
Through a two-year curriculum blending robust theoretical foundations with extensive practical experience through courses and projects, students develop the skills needed to effect positive change in government, multinational corporations, or international organisations.
“We need the profiles that will be capable of navigating this new space of digital humanities”, says Dean Arancha González.
