Fariba Adelkhah on Hunger Strike
26 December 2019 - In the midst of this holiday season, our friend and colleague Fariba Adelkhah, unjustly imprisoned in Iran for now over six months, has begun an unlimited hunger strike.
We are deeply saddened by this grave news, which brings our concerns over the terrible situation facing our colleagues to a height.
We are informed that Fariba Adelkhah is joined in her protest by Australian academic Kylie Moore-Gilbert, who too has been incarcerated in Iran for more than fifteen months. The decision of the two professors brings home still more powerfully the value of academic freedom and the urgent attention that must be paid to the plight of all imprisoned researchers and academics.
The whole Sciences Po community strongly reaffirms its indignation at these events and its shock at the announcement of this latest news. To Fariba Adelkhah and Roland Marchal we send our deepest solidarity. We join our voices to theirs in calling more fiercely than ever for their immediate release, on which their lives today depend.
