Meet Matthew Green, a British student on the Reims Campus
Matthew Green is a British undergraduate student who recently enrolled in the Europe - North America programme at Sciences Po. He is also an excellence scholarship recipient. During our interview with him, he told us about his reasons for choosing, and his experiences in applying to Sciences Po. Matthew also offers his advice for future candidates and tells us of his plans for the future.
Why did you choose Sciences Po?
Put simply, I felt Sciences Po could give me the most during my undergraduate studies and also that I could give the most back to Sciences Po too. For me, my decision hinged on the possibility to study at a prestigious university but also in an intimate environment, the possibility to walk in the footsteps of the many great leaders Sciences Po has produced whilst having an identity and a sense of belonging at the same time.
Are you involved in any sports groups or societies on the Reims campus?
Yes! I play football with the campus team. Being a small campus the depth of talent is somewhat limited but it is made up for by our team spirit. Each student takes a group project. I chose to be part of Sciences Econ; an economics society with the aim of getting others to start talking about economics. We print newsletters and organise debates as well as more social events.
What are your plans for the future?
In France and on the rest of the continent too, there is a greater emphasis placed on taking a Master’s degree immediately after undergraduate study as a path to the most sought-after jobs and opportunities. Whether this is the right choice for me will become clearer in a few years but in the long-term I would like to go into politics or the law profession.
