Sciences Po graduates: highly sought after

The 2016 survey on the employment of recent Sciences Po graduates confirms that a diploma from one of Sciences Po’s graduate schools remains a strong asset for quickly entering the workforce. Just one year following their graduation in June 2015, the overall rate of employment was 95.7%, a slight increase from the year before and in line with the upward trend of the past few years. High employment rates & quick access to work

Of the students who chose to enter the labour market, 91% are working and 8.8% are seeking employment. Moreover, it should be noted that of the respondents who are seeking employment, about half of them (53.7%) have had at least one job since graduating from Sciences Po. Overall, the employment rate for 2015 graduates is an impressive 95.7%.

Starting salaries remain high

Based upon data from 767 respondents, average gross annual earnings were €36,560. For those who are employed outside of France, annual salaries tend to be higher on average.

Graduates start their careers abroad

Over a third of those surveyed work outside of France. The majority of recent graduates are employed in Europe, with 16% in Africa, 12% in North America, 12% in Asia-Oceania, and 6% in Latin America.

A wide variety of paths

The jobs of Sciences Po graduates are distributed among a variety of sectors. For instance, 71% of graduates are employed in the private sector, 21% work in the public sector, and 8% are involved in an international organisation or European institution.

Given the diversity of Master’s programmes at Sciences Po, graduates’ professions remain varied among sectors such as: Auditing/Consultancy, Public Administration, Banking/Finance/Insurance, Industry/Energy/Transport, NGOs, International Organisations, Communications/Media, Research, Retail, the Arts, Urban Planning & Law.

The 2016 edition of the graduate survey was conducted under the supervision of Anne Boring (OFCE - PRESAGE) and Roberto Galbiati (CNRS). The total number of 2015 graduates that participated in the survey was 1,447 out of 1,944 (a 74% response rate).
