Fighting terrorism at the European level

Former Minister of the Interior of Germany, Thomas de Maizière, and former Prime Minister of France, Bernard Cazeneuve were invited by the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs to discuss the fight against terrorism at the German, French, and European levels.

"Even if the world is safer than it has ever been, the consequences of terror attacks in the public opinion are very serious," says Bernard Cazeneuve, who was Minister of the Interior during the Bataclan and Nice terror attacks in France. In their lecture and in the Q&A with students, the former Ministers discussed the balance between freedom and security, the importance of collaboration between nations, and the challenges of keeping a society together after a terrorist attack.
