“Unemployment must be understood as part of overall economic performance”

On 30 June and 1 July 2015, Sciences Po’s Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP) organised a conference in honour of Christopher A.Pissarides, 2010 Nobel Laureate in economics and Regius Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. During the conference, world-renowned academics tackled the issue of unemployment in the Euro-zone.

In an interview for Sciences Po, Pissarides talks of his life-long commitment to understanding unemployment and developing models to guide policy-making on the issue. He also shares his conviction that unemployment must be understood in relation to the economy as a whole.
