“We need a progressive carbon tax”

On 25 November 2015, Thomas Piketty was invited by the Sciences Po School of Public Affairs to give a lecture on “Inequalities, Capital and Carbon in the 21st Century”. 

A few days before the Climate Conference, star economist Thomas Piketty presented his research comparing carbon emissions produced by individuals rather than by countries.

Drawing on this original viewpoint, Piketty recommends that countries implement a progressive carbon tax, according to the carbon emissions of each individual. Watch the video to learn more.
