Why is Paris the best place to study arbitration?

In 2017, the Sciences Po Law School launched a LLM in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement, a 1-year programme for professionals taught entirely in English in Paris. Now more than ever, Paris is the place to be for international arbitration professionals who want to take their expertise to the next level.

Engage with the transnational arbitration network in Paris

Paris is home to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) International Court of Arbitration, along with the leading law firms in the field of international arbitration and many of the most reputed arbitration specialists. In this programme, practical workshops take place in law firms and at the ICC.

LLM students have direct access to eminent practitioners and academics. Guest lectures by inspiring figures such as Emmanuel Gaillard, Alain Pellet, Gary Born and Franco Ferrari are a major feature of the programme.

“We are given access to the inner circle of arbitration and get to pick the brains of the giants in the field.” Leia Shin (33), lawyer and LLM student (2018).

Engage with lawyers from all over the world

LLM students form a mixed group from all over the world and of different ages. With no more than 20 students per year, the cohort quickly forms a tightknit group. All the students are able to share valuable insights from their own legal systems.

“I am really enjoying the daily inspiration I get from my lecturers and colleagues. (…) We all bring something from our own jurisdiction so it feels like we are building a small hub of international arbitration practitioners of our own.”  Leia Shin (33), lawyer and LLM student (2018).
