Prospering in a Climate-Impacted Society

For the fifth edition of the Paris School of International Affairs’ Youth & Leaders Summit, held on 20 January 2020, distinguished guest speakers and students explored how our societies and communities may continue to prosper while facing important transformations due to climate change. 

Guests included Élisabeth Borne, French Minister for Ecological Transition and Solidarity, Lakhdar Brahimi, Elder and former UN diplomat, Ban Ki-moon, 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, Thomas Friedman, Opinion Columnist at The New York Times, Duncan Austin, Environmental advocacy and sustainable investor, Mari Pangestu, Incoming Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnerships, World Bank and former Minister of Trade and former Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesia, Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Group, Gina McCarthy, Incoming President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council and former Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and many more.

Students participated in panels and debated on subjects such as “Climate Activism for Lasting Change” and “Innovations for a Climate-Impacted World”. See the full programme of the event.
