Sciences Po has added "Energy, Environement and Regulation" to its Executive Masters program.
The Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris commonly reffered to as "Sciences-Po", is no newcomer when it comes to environmental education. The Sustainable Developement Center was created over 10 years ago, in 2003. Its director, Laurence Tubiana, is the ambassador responsible for climate change negociations and the French special representative for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference.
But it is another woman, Sophie Meritet, economist and specialist in energy markets who began her career in Houston, who runs this Executive Masters program." I will also teach certain courses, to stay in touch with the students", she says, adding that this new program differs from earlier ones as it is less oriented toward finance and technology and more focused on "the increasingly complex realities of the energy sector."
It will be run by a prestigious educational committee consisting of university professors and professionals from industry, finance and public institutions. Partnerships with others leading schools, such as the London School of Economics ( LSE) and King's College London, are under discussion. to apply, prospective students need "only" a few years of professional experience in management and strategy, ideally in an energy producing food industry or one that uses a lot of energy, or even come from the public sector. "
The innovation of this program lies in the linkage of the three key words proposed by Sciences Po : energy, environment and regulation, a crucial triptych in knowing how to take strategic decisions in this rapidly changing sector", says Meritet.
