Joseph Bohling
Joseph Bohling is Associate Professor of History at Portland State University and a recent Visiting Fellow at the Remarque Institute at New York University. He received his doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley.
A specialist in the history of twentieth-century France and Europe, Bohling is the author of The Sober Revolution: Appellation Wine and the Transformation of France (Cornell, 2018) and a series of articles on French capitalism in the twentieth century.

En histoire, s’il y a bien un champ pour lequel la question des transformations numériques de la discipline se pose avec une certaine acuité, c’est bien celui de l’histoire économique. Mises en séries de sources hétérogènes, catégorisations anachroniques, pertinence des approches de longue durée : les débats relatifs aux usages de la quantification y furent vifs, précoces… Ils se soldèrent surtout, dès les années 1980/1990, par un reflux et/ou une marginalisation des approches quantitatives.
