Champagne Capitalism: the Political Economy of French Empire

Sciences Po's Vice Presidence for Research invites you to the FacSem with David Todd, University Professor, Center for History and coordinator of the Centre for History and Economics in Paris. David Todd's work to date has been concerned with intellectual debates about globalisation in the nineteenth century and the rise of French informal imperialism after the Napoleonic wars.

He is currently working on foreign trade and corruption in the mid-nineteenth century, and on silk as a global commodity chain.

His presentation will be discussed by Jérôme Sgard, Full Professor, Centre for International Studies.
