Sciences Po’s MOOCs on Coursera
Since it launched its MOOC series in 2014, Sciences Po has produced a total of 11 MOOCs, most of which are now accessible in several languages on the Coursera platform:
The production of MOOCs at Sciences Po advances several goals:
- To offer a wide audience a free look at Science Po’s approach to major subjects. We are one of the most productive and visible French educational institutions, thanks to the number of MOOCs we have produced, as well as their national and international distribution on the FUN and Coursera platforms.
- To contribute to Sciences Po’s standing, as evidenced by the fact that two of our MOOCs, Patrick Le Gallès’ “Cities are Back in Town,” and Giacomo Luciani’s “Politics and Economics of International Energy” in the “Definitive List of Courses for Learning About the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” published by Class Central, an organization that maintains a global listing of MOOCs.
- To innovate in hybrid teaching with our students, for example, by offering a refresher course before an in-person course, or knowledge transfer in the context of a flipped classroom where a SPOC is conceived and created for internal use.
If these creations have mobilized our faculty, pedagogical engineers, and technical teams within Sciences Po, they have also been an opportunity to work with various partners such as the distribution platforms (Coursera, FUN), web hosts and content producers (INA, Grand Public, graphic artists and designers), as well as companies that specialize in the enrichment and accessibility of digital resources (MFP, Koena, Domoscio, Adways).
