Steffen Bohni Nielsen, National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Denmark

Steffen Bohni Nielsen, PhD is Director General at the National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Denmark. Formerly, he was partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Denmark. He has also held executive positions in national and local government and in an international management consulting firm. He is a member of the Danish Research and Innovation Council and serves on several boards. He serves on the editorial advisory board of the American Journal of Evaluation. He is the author of several peer reviewed articles and books on diverse topics such as research on evaluation, the evaluation industry, public management and leadership, results-based management, artificial intelligence, Big Data, evaluation capacity building, and theory informed evaluation approaches such as realist evaluation and contribution analysis. 

Abstract: 

Steffen Bohni Nielsen will present findings from a recently published anthology, which he edited: Artificial Intelligence and Evaluation. Emerging Technologies and Their Implications for Evaluation. The book is open access. In his presentation he will talk about what artificial intelligence is in relation to evaluation, and how it may be used for data collection, data management, analysis and reporting. In doing so some of the promises and perils will be discussed. Finally, he will take a look at the implications for evaluation practice and what various actors in the evaluation field need to do in response to the emergence of powerful digital technologies.
