Abstract
This workshop aims to bring together contributions that interrogate the complex interconnections between social and environmental policies. As environmental sciences increasingly incorporate concerns about redistribution and inequalities, welfare research is more and more highlighting the new social risk that originates from the ecological crisis and the green transition. In this context, concepts like just transition, sufficiency, postgrowth and eco-social policies are gaining prominence. Yet the way in which social and environmental policies interact within different institutional contexts across levels of governance remains underexplored. Following presentations from across different disciplines, this workshop will provide a space to discuss ongoing research projects and examine the opportunities and challenges of bringing the ecological and the social together in public policy research.
