Yannis Papadopoulos

A Greek and Swiss binational, Yannis Papadopoulos received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Geneva in 1987, and is currently a professor of public policy at the University of Lausanne. He has held visiting positions at the European University Institute, Sciences Po and Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), and has been affiliated as a research director with the CNRS.

His current research focus is on the evaluation of the impact of changing governance modes, especially beyond the nation-state, on democratic accountability. He is the author of many articles in major professional journals, recently co-edited (with Deirdre Curtin and Peter Mair), Accountability and European Governance, London, Routledge, 2011, and is preparing a book on Democracy in Crisis? (forthcoming with Palgrave, 2013).

Professor Papadopoulos has received funding for his research by the European Union, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNS), the Dutch National Science Foundation (NOW), and the Volkswagen Stiftung. He is currently co-editing the European Journal of Political Research.
