Born in 1859, son of the reformist Burmese King Mindon (1853-1878), Thibaw Min succeeded his father in 1878. Defeated by the British colonial troops in less than two weeks during the Third Anglo-Burmese War (November 1885), he was deposed and exiled to Ratnagiri, on the western Indian coast, where he died in 1916. Thibaw and his Queen, Supalayat, were the last monarchs of Burma’s Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885)
