Bas von Benda-Beckmann

Bas von Benda-Beckmann works as a researcher for the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam. In 2010 he completed his PhD on the German historiography of the Allied bombings, which in 2015 was published in an updated monograph: German Historians and the Bombing of German Cities. The Contested Air War. Since 2010 he has worked on the Dutch resistance and in 2013 he published De Velser Affaire. Een omstreden oorlogsgeschiedenis on the history of Dutch resistance groups and their postwar memory conflicts. Currently he is working on a new book on the German Polizeigefängnis in Scheveningen during the German occupation.
