Gudehus Christian
Christian Gudehus is Permanent Fellow at the Hans Kilian und Lotte Köhler Centrum für sozial- und kulturwissenschaftliche Psychologie und historische Anthropologie (Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Faculty of Social Science). His research focuses on memory studies, reception studies (with an emphasis on film, exhibitions, and memorials), as well as on the study of collective violence. He has taught and undertaken research in several institutions as the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities Essen, the Institute for Culture Studies and Theatre History of the Austrian Academy of Science, the Centro de Estudios Sobre Genocido at the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (Buenos Aires), Sciences Po (Paris), the Université de Paris Ouest - Nanterre La Défense (Paris), and the Hebrew University Jerusalem. He has widely published on the aforementioned and other subjects. Amongst others he co-edited an interdisciplinary Handbook on Memory and Remembrance (Erinnerung und Gedächtnis. Ein interdisziplinäres Handbuch with Ariane Eichenberg & Harald Welzer, 2010) and a Handbook on Violence (Gewalt. Ein interdisziplinäres Handbuch with Michaela Christ, 2013). Since 2014 Christian Gudehus is Editor in Chief of Genocide Studies and Prevention. An International Journal.
In his current research he re-examines slaveries in order to create a historical anthropology of violent practices.
