Nature in the City
The post-doctoral researcher Francesca Ferlicca has recently joined Sciences Po to conduct research on the project "Nature in the City," funded by the Gerard B. Lambert Foundation. In this role, she will investigate the interconnectedness of urban planning with nature, biodiversity, urban green spaces, and communal living. As an integral part of the intellectual and academic community at Sciences Po Urban School, her activities will encompass both research and teaching, focusing on key issues that shape the urban landscape:
- Understanding cities as socio-ecological systems
- Unraveling the historical legacies of environmental issues in cities and their impact on humanity and nature
- Exploring sustainable urban development policies and governance to harmonize cities with nature
Francesca Ferlicca will be based at the Urban School of Sciences Po. Additionally, she will collaborate with the Institute for the Arts and Creation to explore the intersection of urban planning and the arts, shedding light on how artistic expression can enhance our understanding of urban green spaces and communal living. This collaboration will involve participation in academic life, research, and teaching, emphasizing the integration of cities and nature in sustainable urban development policies. Francesca Ferlicca will collaborate with fellow researchers, artists in residence, and students, contributing insights on how the relationship between urbanism and nature is expressed through the arts.
